Kate Hudson Celebrates 4th of July by Singing in Her Pajamas

Actress Kate Hudson was "feeling seriously patriotic" on Saturday when she posted a video of herself belting out the national anthem to Instagram. The Almost Famous actress, who will be seen singing in the upcoming rock'n'roll comedy Rock the Casbah, sang the ending of the "Star Spangled Banner" as another person, heard off-screen, recorded her. Since the star was at home, she stayed comfortable in a "Talk to the Hamsa" t-shirt and a pair of floral pajama pants while rocking a set of red-framed sunglasses. The Hamsa on her shirt is a Middle Eastern and North African symbol in the shape of a hand, known for warding the wearer from the evil eye. Hudson captioned the short 15-second Instagram video with "7:30am and I'm feeling seriously patriotic! Happy 4th of July!" adding the hashtags, "#Ge...

Lumbersexuals Causing Disposable Razor Industry to Decline For the First Time in 100 Years

As pop culture trades the slick, put-together metrosexual for the rough-and-tumble lumbersexual, more and more men are growing out their beards rather than spending the 10 minutes it takes to shave. Consequentially, the disposable razor industry is declining for the first time ever in its century-long history. Now, the disposable razor industry is doing all it can to shave off these declining profits and put new, re-designed razors back in men's hands. However, if beards are fashionably in, will it matter to men if the disposable razor is all new and improved? Recently, Gillette released the new FlexBall in the United Kingdom. The new, men's razor, which took Gillette five years to develop, has two pivots that allow all five of its blades to swivel and effortlessly glide across the surfa...

Why Men Just Can’t Stay Away From Camouflage

Going far beyond a fad, fashionably macho camouflage prints and patterns have become a new must-have in menswear that shows no signs of retreating. Fashion designer Mark McNairy places camouflage prints in the same category of menswear as khaki twill and blue oxford shirting. "To me, it’s just become a given," McNairy said. "It’s a staple." While other fashion designers aren't so quick to embrace the military pattern quite as enthusiastically as McNairy, it seems that camouflage has become bulletproof as far as modern menswear is concerned. Camouflage has been seen up and down the runways, from the likes of noted designers such as Dries Van Noten, Valentino, Kenzo, and Comme des Garçons. The distinct print has become standard street fashion since the Americana heritage trend began a few ...

How to Make Your Skin Glow in the New Year

The new year is upon us and that means people have made their New Year's resolutions. For those who were less than happy with the way their skin looked for most of 2014, making skin care a priority in 2015 is an easy choice. While it's tempting to test out the various skin care fads that continually go in and out of style, no skin regimen, no matter how promising it sounds, can help if a person isn't taking care of their body. One of the best ways to do this is by sticking to a skin-healthy diet. “Skin reflects what’s going on in your body, so a well-balanced diet is essential,” says Linda Wang, Founder, Karuna Face Masks. “Avoid processed foods loaded with chemicals and sugar. They can spike insulin levels, which can lead to increased oil production, clogged pores and premature aging. D...

Metallic Temporary Tattoos This Year’s Latest Trend

As the holidays roll around, new trends in fashion and accessories start to emerge. TV commercials, newspaper ads and online gift lists reveal the presents that everyone is dying to have that season. This year, one of the more surprising trends topping off people's wish lists are temporary metallic tattoos. At first glance these adornments are a bit misleading -- shiny detailed strands wrapped around a person's neck or wrist that stay firmly in place no matter how they move. It's hard to take your eyes off them, and many curious passers-by can't help but inquire about these strange pieces of "jewelry" to those who are already rocking them on their arms or necks. "Be ready to explain what it is because people are very intrigued and confused about how it is worn and stays on the skin a...

IKEA Goes Retro by Reviving Furniture Designs from the 1950s

The retro furniture look is expected to be big in 2015, and longstanding furniture titan IKEA is responding by reviving pieces of furniture from the 1950s-1970s.The 26 different sofas, seats, lamps, dishes and rugs are part of IKEA's Årgång collection, which will only be available from select IKEA stores for a limited amount of time. The collection features bright colors, inventive designs and retro flair. Retro furniture has been on trend since stylish shows like Mad Men took over TV, but Ikea didn't have to create new designs based on older design techniques. The 70-year-old company just had to reach back through its catalogs and select a few gems to sell again, giving it a distinct advantage over newer companies trying to recapture the magic of the past. Each furniture piece in the ne...

Baz Luhrmann Designs Barney’s Holiday Party At the Zoo

If there's anyone that knows how to throw a holiday party, it's Baz Luhrman. The famed director of such spectacles as Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby has quite a grandiose vision, which he is able to bring to life offscreen as well. This year, Barney's hired Luhrman to helm the decoration of their holiday windows, which were revealed in grand style on November 13. In true Luhrman style, the unveiling involved ice dancers, step-troupers, opera singers, a-cappella warblers and two break-dancing elves. The spectacle continues through the Christmas holiday, with opera singers appearing every now and again on the Barney's balconies for brief performances. After the unveiling, guests adjourned to the Central Park Zoo, for a holiday dinner party hosted by Barney's and designed by Lu...
