Comparing the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus to the New iPhone X

If you own an iPhone, you’re probably extremely familiar with the fact that Apple releases a new model every year or so. Whenever the latest version of the iPhone is released, Apple fanatics will stand in line for hours at a time just to get their hands on the latest product. In fact, not only is Apple one of the largest companies in the world, but they benefit from extremely brand-loyal customers, who could never dream of using anything but an iPhone.

Because Apple is such an extremely popular brand, their competition is always trying to eat into their market share. Another major cell phone brand is Samsung, and the new Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is going head to head with the iPhone X. According to Forbes, the iPhone X is having trouble comparing positively to Samsung’s new phone.

Forbes contributor Gordon Kelly writes that Apple seems to have everything working in its favor. For instance, the iOS system in an Apple iPhone was created for efficiency, instant software updates, and optimization. The iPhone X chipset is also about 45% faster than the Samsung phone. These are just a few reasons why Apple should be winning the latest smartphone battle.

However, the sales reports speak for themselves. At the end of the day, many consumers just aren’t willing to spend $1,000 on a smartphone, which is hurting the iPhone X sales numbers.

According to The Motley Fool, Samsung offers their phone at a price of $716.00, while Apple’s newest iPhone is $999.00. Both phones do come equipped with a built-in camera, which may appear to be identical from the front. The only major difference here is that the iPhone’s camera is on the left side of the phone while the Samsung’s camera is in the middle. But, to make their phone a little better than Apple’s product, Samsung decided to keep their fingerprint scanner while also supporting facial recognition. The new iPhone only supports facial recognition and got rid of the use of the fingerprint scanner. The Samsung phone is a bit taller than the iPhone, making it a step above, literally.

At the end of the day, the phones may have more in common that either manufacturer would care to admit. Both smartphones have the same basic shape, support mobile apps, feature high-tech mobile cameras, and are held together by micro screws. In 2017, the revenue of nut, screw, and bolt manufacturing reached $30 billion in the U.S., driven in part by the demand for consumer electronics like smarphones.

Yet for a variety of reasons, more American consumers are buying the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus than the iPhone X. Bottom line, people are choosing the Samsung phone more often due to its price and capabilities.
