Foot heath issues of varying degrees of severity happen to approximately 75% of Americans at one time or another during their lifetime. These issues can not only be painful, but they can be costly to address as well. For the most-expensive soccer player in the world, any kind of foot issue is a major concern.
Neymar da Silva Santos Jr., commonly known as Neymar, is a footballer who plays forward for the French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Neymar’s stardom, however, will likely come on the international stage as he plays in his third World Cup this summer in Russia.
In February, however, the 26-year-old soccer star suffered a serious foot injury and had to undergo surgery last month on his fifth metatarsal, bringing up concerns about whether or not he will be able to complete in this year’s World Cup.
According to Mirror, Neymar has been handling his recovery well, and believes he is only about a month away from getting back on the field.
“The injury is processing well, the fracture is consolidating fine, everything’s going okay,” Neymar said.
GOAL reports, however, that Neymar’s return could be much closer, a great sign for his World Cup participation. Unami Emery, head coach of PSG, isn’t exactly sure what day his return will be.
“Regarding Neymar, I do not know exactly when he will come back — Friday or Saturday — but he will come back to be here with us,” Emery said. “We want him to be with us. He will first come to work individually with the physio, then we want him to be with [us]. When he is well, he will return to training.”
In 30 appearances for PSG since signing the most-expensive contract in the history of soccer, Neymar has scored 28 goals.
